Time for the mission. Every day, preferably before sleeping, write down three things you feel gratitude for. And as we saw, there are so many good things, that three becomes an easy target to achieve. And don’t hesitate from writing the same thing every day. It all counts! 😊
You might face in getting started though. We recommend that you decide on a journal beforehand so that there is no reason to procrastinate when the time comes. Feel free to use a physical diary to write in or the pre-packaged “Shrine of Self” in your Kosmik Garden.
Confused about whether to journal on your phone or in a diary? Here’s some advice from our experience:
Digital Journal: You can use a digital journal like the one here in your Garden’s “Shrine of Self.” The pros are that it is easier to carry, edit, and search. Also, you can get automated prompts that can make writing easier. Best of all, you get to feel good about saving trees. Cons are that you must do it on a phone, which can distract you (you can try “Do Not Disturb” mode at night) or sometimes run out of battery.
Physical Journal: Pen on paper has something special about it. The pros are the feeling of writing on paper, the ability to cut all digital distractions, no low battery problem, and some physical exercise for your arms. The cons are that you must keep buying writing material, manage their storage as you fill journals, feel bad about contributing to deforestation, and spend more time searching for old entries.
If you decided to go for a physical journal, keep it ready for the next gratitude ritual. If needed, order one that gets you excited to write in it. And of course, don’t take your commitment to a digital or physical journal too seriously. Feel free to switch these mediums whenever you feel like it. What matters is that you keep writing.
P.S.: In laziness, sometimes you might feel tempted to skip writing and instead just think about your points of gratitude, but remember this: Writing slows down your thinking. This helps recall points that you would have missed otherwise. On top of this, writing creates a record of even the smallest points that you are likely to forget over time, but your journal will hold them forever.
