In the Tree of Life – Level 2, we learned to embrace challenges for growth, how a tree needs the wind to get stronger. Look at the current mission as a subset of that idea. When you rise to life’s challenges, you also make mistakes. And it is time to implement deliberate practice to learn from your mistakes, not fear them.

To summarize, the mindset should be:

  • Mistakes are for feedback, not to be feared

  • 1% improvements lead to massive gains when compounded

For this mission, you simply need to adopt the mindset above, and follow the steps by Ericsson. But to get started, here are some suggestions that can help:

1. Define

  • Define success criteria, and ask, “What do I need to learn to get there?”

2. Pace

  • Go slow. Give enough time to each improvement, no matter how small

  • Stick to a routine. Schedule sessions in advance

  • Limit sessions to a reasonable time to ensure maximum focus

3. Feedback

  • What gets measured, gets improved. Track even the smallest changes

  • Get feedback and external perspective from coach or colleagues

  • Plan, reflect, and take notes. In each session, see what worked and what didn’t
